glory

"But you, oh Lord, are a shield about me, my glory and the lifter of my head." ~Psalm 3:3

When my performances become about me, my accomplishments, my grace, my beauty my skill, etc., they always fall short because I don't posses those things. I can, however, reflect the One who does. When my performances become a reflection of His beauty, His truth, His goodness, His gifts to me, the performance then gains value and purpose and I am released from the overwhelming personal pressure that keeps me from performing well. I will never perfectly reflect His grace, His truth, His goodness because I have a sinful heart residing in a frame corrupted by sin. I am full of imperfection. Physically, I have many flaws. Spiritually, I have many wayward desires. Yet, magnifying those things is ugly, disappointing, and pointless. Magnifying the gorgeous mystery of my Creator and Savior and His unexplainable love for me is "a shield about me, my glory and the lifter of my head".
